How to Win a Difficult Battle
The story of Daniel signifies how to live a life pleasing to god and seeking his guidance in all walk of life. For many of us it becomes difficult to exercise our faith on God when we are in a high position. Saying No to many things becomes difficult. The life of Daniel teaches us how to win a difficult battle. Let's look into the life of Daniel, which will help us become stronger in faith and learn the art of saying No to the things not pleasing in the eyes of God.
Book of Daniel 1:15 and 16 say, At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. 16 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead.
But initially it was a battle that Daniel and his friends had to win to glorify God, not easy, so let's look into Daniel's life and learn how he was able to live a life pleasing to God.
Recognize the Problem
Book of Daniel 1:5 says, The king assigned them (Daniel and his friends) a daily amount of food and wine from the king’s table. Daniel was from a royal family and ]nobility, according to Book of Daniel 1:3. He might have access to everything that he desired in his life. He is a royal member now.
Have you ever come across a situation or a time where you have a world of abundance but you see God is not going to be glorified by those? It's very difficult to have an eye which can see, a heart which can understand whether God is being glorified by those or not. It's hard to recognize a problem which doesn't seem like a problem.
As a youth if we want to win a difficult battle in your life, we need to to develop an eye and heart like Daniel which will be able to recognize a problem in the first place and always look for God's glory in everything we do and have in our lives.
Strong Determination
Book of Daniel 1:8 says, But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. First, he determined himself not to defile him. Determination is the most important and very first thing to overcome any kind of adverse situation.
When you really can see a problem, you must be determined to overcome the problem. Determination helps you find way to overcome the problem of any kind.
Right Approach
As a youth, when we recognize problem in life and are determined to solve it, sometimes we do not take a right approach. Book of Daniel 1:8 says, Daniel asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. Approach the right person who really can assist you. God has always kept someone for us who really can help us in the time of trouble. Seek assistance from God and he will show you the right person to approach.
