Story of Zacchaeus, Overcoming Physical Obstacles

Overcoming Physical Obstacles

The story of Zacchaeus or Zacchaeus the tax collector is well known to us. We find this story in Luke 19. He was the chief tax collector and wealthy as well. The Bible doesn't mention how he got to know about Jesus and what made him to develop a desire to see Jesus, but he wanted to see Jesus. Zacchaeus climbs a sycamore-fig tree to see Jesus.

Let's look closely into the story of Zacchaeus or Zacchaeus the tax collector and learn what kind of obstacles he had and how he overcame those.

SHORT STATURE
Zacchaeus' physical obstacle was his short stature. Luke 19: 3 says that Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus, but he could not see him because of his short stature. Many a times because of our physical obstacle, we could not do things for Jesus that we want to do. We lack something in our physical life. We want to pray daily early in the morning, we cannot get up early. We want to go to church every Sunday but we cannot because we have to complete some urgent office work. We want to help others but we do not have money or time.

FIND OUT WHERE JESUS IS
It is difficult for a short man to climb a tree but it was the only option he found. Do you have a desire to see Jesus and know him? If yes, we need to know where we will find Jesus. Zacchaeus knew that Jesus was coming that way. Yes, his desire to see Jesus encouraged him to inquire about Jesus. If we want to see Jesus and know him, we have to spend time in prayer and reading scripture. That is the only option we have to see Jesus.

JESUS KNOW YOU BY YOUR NAME

Luke 19:5 says "When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” He knows everyone by their names.  If we show a desire to see Him, he will show us a way to overcome it.  No obstacle will ever be an obstacle anymore.  A CROWD LIKE PROBLEM, TALL TREE LIKE IMPOSSIBLE TASK will be made easier for us and he will call us by our names and stay at our house.
